Caring Medical Centre is a bulk billed clinic which aims to provide rural GP health care in a city environment. They endeavour to give patients the time and support they need, as much as possible. All staff at Caring Medical are dedicated to the highest standard of professional care. Recently Caring Medical decided to reduce their energy bills and invest in a back up system for their Vaccine fridge, server and other essential loads to ensure they not only save on costly call out fees in the event of a grid outage, but provide peace of mind that their vaccines will be secure, and in the event of a prolonged outage, will have ample time to provide an alternative solution.
Caring Medical decided on Solar Hybrids to design a system that will meet their needs and objectives, due to our expertise in the Hybrid and off grid power sector. The system we designed consists of LG NeonH solar panels which are connected via SolarEdge DC Optimisers to 1 x SolarEdge 3-Phase inverter. The Optimisers are small electronic devices installed beneath each solar panel that enable panel-level monitoring and ensures each module panel is continually kept at maximum power point. Electricity losses due to mismatch or partial shading conditions are also kept to a minimum through the use of SolarEdge Optimisers. Additionally, this SolarEdge system also provides a superior level of safety. The DC-DC optimisers revert to ‘extra low voltage’ when the system is switched off during daylight hours. If an accident occurs, the system will automatically isolate to safe mode once the communications link is breached or the system is shutdown. This allows firefighters to operate safely and use water to push back a flame front.
The back up system compromised of LG NeonH Panels, a charge converter, 2 PowerPlus 24V 3.3kWh LiFePO4 modular batteries and a Selectronic SP PRO 3kW inverter charger. In the event of a grid outage this system will power the selected back up loads. The Solar Hybrids team designed the system, procured the components, and project-managed the build from start to finish, ensuring a safe and successful implementation of the highest quality system with minimal disruption to Caring Medical operations.
